In Memoriam: Dr. Maynard Eugene Boring (1935-2024)

Phillips Theological Seminary mourns the passing of Dr. M. Eugene Boring on June 27, 2024. Dr. Boring became Professor of New Testament and Greek at Phillips University in 1967. He was later named  the Darbeth Distinguished Professor of New Testament at the Graduate Seminary at Phillips University in Enid, Okla. until 1986.

After leaving Phillips, Dr. Boring went on to teach at Texas Christian University and Brite Divinity School, from which he retired in 2003 as Professor Emeritus of New Testament. A renowned scholar of the New Testament, Dr. Boring was the author of many translations and books. He was an ordained minister of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).

A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at University Christian Church in Ft. Worth, Texas, at 4 p.m. A full obituary can be found online. The service will also be streamed live CLICK TO WATCH.
