Phillips Seminary Completes Accreditation Site Visit

Members of the accreditation team take time for a photo with some of the Board of Trustees members and administrators during their visit to the Phillips Theological Seminary campus.

Phillips Theological Seminary’s accreditation visit from the Association of Theological Schools concluded Thursday morning, Sept. 26, following more than two days of in-depth conversations with alums, board members, students, staff, faculty, and administration.

The five accreditation team members explored all facets of Phillips and expressed their appreciation for the transparency and cooperation they experienced during their time in Tulsa.

“This was a very positive process,” said Phillips President Nancy Claire Pittman. “We look forward to receiving the final recommendations from ATS as we continue our work of theological formation.”

The accreditation report is expected in mid-February following approval by ATS commissioners. The Commission on Accrediting of ATS accredits institutions and approves degree programs offered by accredited schools like Phillips.

There are more than 270 ATS member schools that reflect a variety of doctrinal, ecclesiastical, and theological perspectives. More information on the ATS accreditation process is available online.
