Center for Religion in Public Life
Gary Peluso-Verdend, PhD, retired as the inaugural executive director of the Center for Religion in Public Life on January 31, 2023.
During his 3 ½ years as founder of the Center, he has blogged on significant themes at the intersection of religion and public life in Oklahoma, interviewed religious leaders who are engaged in building the common good for all Oklahomans, and taught several public courses for more in-depth learning about how American Christianities has influenced politics, and vice versa. We will miss his insight and wisdom on issues dear to our hearts.
In the next few months, a group of Phillips trustees, faculty and area religious leaders will be considering possibilities for the Center and making a recommendation to the Board of Trustees concerning its future in the next academic year.
