Phillips Theological Seminary is committed to strengthening rural and small congregations across the Midwest and Southwest through innovative leadership development, practical resources, and sustained community support.

This program is generously supported by $1 million from Lilly Endowment Inc. as part of the Pathways for Tomorrow Initiative.

  • 2-year-long learning communities with 7 diverse churches per cohort
  • Teams of pastors and lay leaders from each congregation
  • Year 1: 3 gatherings: 1 in-person at Phillips, 2 virtual sessions
  • Year 2: Monthly mentorship from dedicated guides
  • $5,000 mini-grants for ministry-enhancing projects

  • Non-degree classes on technology, worship streaming, facility maintenance
  • Flexible access: live and on-demand
  • Navigating congregational dynamics
  • Affordable pricing for rural contexts

3. MDiv Enhancement & Alum Support

  • New or reimagined elective courses for MDiv students
  • Regional workshops for Phillips alums
  • Facilitated continuing education
