Presidential Transition Committee Sets Process for Selecting New Leader for Phillips

The first in-person meeting of the Presidential Transition Committee was held April 30, 2018 to accomplish several tasks.

The committee met with executive search consultant Rebekah Burch Basinger for the first time. Rebekah and Claire Meredith, committee chair, reviewed the charge to the committee from the Board of Trustees and several other preliminary documents before setting dates for future meetings.

The committee determined the format and timing for listening sessions with students, faculty, staff, alumni, church and Tulsa-area leaders. This input will provide valuable information for the presidential profile.

Diversity training for team members will be completed this fall before the review of candidates.

The committee will provide updates as they continue the search for the next president of Phillips Theological Seminary.

The board of trustees approved a change of leadership at the seminary during its February 2018 meetings. Gary Peluso-Verdend is stepping down from the office of president July 1 for a sabbatical year before returning to Phillips in 2019 in a new role. READ THE NEWS RELEASE
