Your Hands and Feet

We pray for the healing of the world and offer our own hands and feet for the task in this pastoral prayer by Brad Thomison.

Great Creator,

You have made the world
    and each of in it.
You know us at the deepest place of our being
Your loving hand has sculpted our existence from the beginning
and will continue until the end
The world is yours
as are all the people who live in it.

On this day we pray for all of your creation,
calling out for your creative energy to continue

    working, healing, and
bringing life to us each day.

End the wars, conflicts, and hate around the world

that continues to destroy the lives of your children

Inspire leaders to seek peace and justice

instead of an artificial"victory" that leaves people dead and the earth scarred

Guide decisions made by lawmakers

    to provide -real- liberty,

    and justice for ALL

Heal broken relationships

Push each of us toward forgiveness, grace, and reunion

Lead us to intersections in life

    where we must grow, change,

and be challenged to encounter you in new ways
Encourage our hearts as work piles up,

    deadlines approach,

and we wonder at our ability to continue

Move in this space and be near each of us,
Embrace us with your spirit and warm our being to the core
like our favorite blanket fresh from the dryer
like a hug from a dear friend

Through this time and practice of worship
fill us up with Your love
so full that overflows from us
and out into everyone we encounter

The creation calls out to Creator
We will be your hands and feet for this world in need.
