Cultivating vital communities, vital conversations, and the public good.

Community Life and Worship

Community Life is an important part of the seminary experience for students, faculty, and staff. Opportunities for sharing and conversation take many forms, both face-to-face and online.

For individuals on campus, community meals are light-hearted occasions for telling stories and visiting with one another. A quiet gathering around the fireplace in the Student Commons can be particularly satisfying.  Community worship in Meinders Chapel invites the PTS family to be together in special ways.

Chapel homilies are available as podcasts, with links on the PTS homepage. Occasional devotional materials are also available through the Prayers and More links on the homepage.

Connecting Community, posted weekly during the Fall and Spring semesters, conveys current PTS news.   Celebrations, upcoming events, announcements, relevant information, and occasional words of wisdom are visible to the public.  Prayer concerns are shared on a password-protected page, where members of the PTS community also have the ability to offer updates and words of encouragement as comments.  To obtain the password or to add your event, celebration, or prayer request, please email Lonnie Snyder, editor of Connecting Community.

Moodle course sites, including joule Social, provide access to online communication for students enrolled in a class together. Instructors often set up discussion forums or chats for informal conversation in addition to official coursework. PTS staff and faculty make themselves readily available to students and to one another via email.

Pastor to the PTS Community Susanna Southard welcomes e-mail contact, Skype or phone conversations, and visitors in her office next to the Student Commons.

Your PTS community is never far away!
