The Peasant Prayer of Jesus

The Lord's Prayer is familiar to most Christians, though we do not all use the same words.  Based on historical study of Matthew and Luke's versions, New Testament scholar Brandon Scott offers this Peasant Prayer as the words of Jesus.

Jesus' Peasant Prayer

Let your name be revered

Let your empire be established

Provide us with the bread we need day by day

Forgive our debts since we forgive everyone in debt to us

And don’t make us face the test
