The Child Will Be Born

PTS President Gary Peluso-Verdend offers this Advent prayer.

THE CHILD WILL BE BORN

Eternal God,

O that we could slow time, especially in this season. There is always too much to do. But we know that the Christ is born on your schedule, not on ours. We are grateful for your promise that—regardless of how we feel about time, regardless of how we feel about our circumstances, regardless of how we feel about our world—the Child will be born.

For all who hunger and thirst for righteousness,

The Child will be born.

For all who are sick and in need of healing,

The Child will be born.

For all who work for peace,

The Child will be born.

For all who seek truth and wisdom,

The Child will be born.

Equip us to serve as midwives of his birth, preparers of his way—in our houses of worship, in our families, in our communities, in our places of service, everywhere his presence might increase faith, hope, and love.

Come, Emmanuel. Be born amongst us once again.

AMEN
