Anna and Simeon teach us to pray in the presence of the Child.
Simeon offers blessing and Anna prays as response to a child, Holy Mystery;
what will we do at the sight of the child Jesus, at the sight of any child?
Will we speak of salvation?
Will we shine revelation?
Or will we turn away, immersed in our own to-do lists,
filled with our own sense of what is necessary, important, salvific?
This week, we pray, Holy One,
may we attend first to the child Anna and Simeon beheld and also to the children we encounter.
May we seek well-being for them;
May we seek peace for all.
In the name of the child, Jesus. Amen.
