Nancy Pittman leads us in an Epiphany prayer for the Light of God.
Though we might dream, on occasion, of a city in which we need no sun or moon, Holy Mystery,
because your light is so intense,
we confess that right now we are in need of a gentler radiance.
We need the warm sunlight by day
We need the clear moonlight by night
We need signs of your presence always.
So on this day, may we seek not so much to be dazzled
by the overly vivid and the excessively bright,
but to be illuminated by your simple, warm light,
your clear glow—for justice, for kindness, for peace.
In the name of Jesus. Amen
