Prayer on the Road to Emmaus

As the spring semester draws to a close, Sheri Curry offers this prayer.

PRAYER ON THE ROAD TO EMMAUS

Holy Lover, Mentor Divine, Instructor of the Dance,

            You call us

                        To do the hard

                                    self-work

                                    of deconstruction and reconstruction

In these final days of copious words and frustrating footnotes

Sustain us with your peace that passes all understanding

            Guide us with your vision

Deliver us from the need to be the expert in control

Heal us with your holy self

That through your life-giving Spirit

We will heed your call to

                        To walk with the wounded

                        To eat with new neighbors

To listen to your harmony within our hearts

As we rush to places we never imagined

and purposes we may never understand

In the name of the one who calls us into the sacred stories of faith.

Amen
