Prayer for Feeding

Not merely bread and fish, but life itself is the provision of the God who feeds us, according to this prayer by Nancy Pittman.

Feed us, Holy Mystery.

Not just bread, although we are grateful for every crumb that fills our bodies and gives us energy to do the work of the day.

And feed us not just with fish, although we acknowledge our dependence upon the creatures of the earth for sustenance and strength.

Feed us with the bread of life, the bread of hope, the bread of love.  Feed us with perseverance for the ongoing tasks of ministry, feed us with courage for the daily chores of compassion and justice, feed us with wisdom for learning and growing in the way of Jesus.

Feed us, Holy Mystery, so that we may feed others.

In the name of Jesus. Amen.
