Phillips Welcomes New Directors of Seminary Worship

Rev. Gina and Chuck Jackson

Rev. Gina and Chuck Jackson have been named as the Directors of Seminary Worship at Phillips Theological Seminary.

"Phillips has a really special place in our hearts, and to be a part of it now is exciting," said Rev. Gina Jackson.

The Jacksons will be responsible for the planning and implementation of all worship activities associated with the Tuesday-Thursday chapel services during the spring and fall semesters. They will also manage worship activities during concentrated course weeks, the Doctor of Ministry Fortnight, and other special services as needed.  Gina and Chuck Jackson will continue to serve South Grand Lake Christian Church in Langley, Okla., as pastor and associate pastor, respectively.

Gina Jackson earned a Master of Divinity degree from Phillips in 2007, and Chuck Jackson has audited several Phillips classes. The Jacksons previously helped plan and lead worship at Phillips during the Doctor of Ministry Fortnight in January. The services were so well received that students were still talking about them in March during a seminary-wide conversation about worship.

"Over the years we attended here, Phillips became a special place," said Chuck Jackson. "It's exciting to give back to the students now."

“They’re passionate, creative, smart and responsive to the world around them,” said Susanna Southard, Phillips Chaplain and Instructor in Ministry Studies.

The Jacksons will start on August 1.
