Phillips Screens Killing Jesus

Phillips Theological Seminary is collaborating with the National Geographic Channel to present an advance screening of Killing Jesus, which premieres nationally on March, 29, 2015 at 7 pm (Central).

Please join us Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at 7pm to view the film at the seminary, 901 N. Mingo Road, in the Meinders Chapel. Following the screening, actor Alexis Rodney who portrays Simon Peter in the film, will join us for a Q&A session.

One of the fascinating things about the film is its historic bit of casting. Haaz Sleiman, who plays Jesus, comes from a Muslim family and has been open to discussing the interesting ways about this experience and the interfaith conversations he’s had in the process. As you can imagine, this matter hasn’t set well with some in the Christian community.

As a community of learners dedicated to learning the way of Jesus, we think this is a wonderful opportunity to engage with a version of that story and its impact and reception within popular culture. The chance to watch the movie and give our feedback is a great opportunity to focus those conversations for a night.

We hope you will find the time to visit the seminary, enjoy the film and refreshments, and participate in what could be some lively conversation about this latest addition to a long list of Jesus films.
