Phillips New Addition to Stewardship

Geoffrey Brewster, a student in the Master of Divinity program has recently accepted a position in the Stewardship department at PTS. An Oklahoma native, Geoff’s primary responsibilities will include Church Relations, Alumni Relations and assisting with the Annual Fund.

“During my time here as a student I have learned the importance of a solid theological education, especially for those who are called to leadership within the church and society. I am very excited to help tell the story of PTS to the church and surrounding communities,” said Brewster. “I believe in the work PTS is doing, and am honored to be a part of the team that will help move PTS on to even more valuable and profound educational endeavors in the 21st Century,” he added.

A 2003 graduate of the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond, Geoff earned his B.A. in Psychology with a minor in Substance Abuse Studies. He will graduate in May 2010 with a Master in Divinity from PTS.

Geoff has worked in youth ministry for over 10 years, most recently as the Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministries at Southern Hills Christian Church (DOC) in Edmond.

“I believe that one of the most important missions of the church is to develop quality Christian Education opportunities for our young people. The struggles we face in the church today are partially due to poor theological education, which then requires theological re-education. If the church can educate our young people more effectively today, then we will not have to work twice as hard to re-educate them as adults,” he remarked.

Geoff has also served as the Minister to Youth and Students at Faith Community Christian Church (DOC) in Choctaw, Okla., and as the Youth Minister at First Christian Church (DOC) in Shawnee, Okla.

In his free time, Geoff enjoys a variety of activities, including: hiking, backpacking, fishing, camping, gardening, movies, art, photography and church.
