Cultivating vital communities,
vital conversations, and the public good.
Home > Admissions > Why Choose Phillips? > Phillips is Connecting

Students and graduates from across the United States often describe how deeply they value the community and the life-long friendships initiated here. This perception of community and friendships may come as a surprise when you also catch that Phillips is a commuter school that owns no residential housing for students. But some students have transferred to Phillips from other seminaries with housing because they found a richer community of life here! And, students who take courses online report how much the friendships started online mean to them, with friendships and community enhanced by attending week-long concentrated courses on campus.

The modes of education have changed and are changing:

  • We offer classes on campus weekly, weekends, and concentrated weeks.

  • Online classes are via a course management system.

  • Some courses are offered in two formats simultaneously, with some students on campus and some students participating via a live stream.

What has not changed is the rich set of connections between students, students and faculty, and students and staff.

Phillips offers Christian graduate theological education in service of intelligent, just, and
compassionate religious and civic communities. We welcome students to a safe space for truth-seeking conversations about the Bible, Jesus, and faithful living. Courses are available on campus and online for certificate, diploma, MDiv, MAMC, and MTS programs, and on campus for the DMin program.
