Phillips Community Responds to Same-Sex Marriage in Oklahoma

Same-sex marriage is now legal in Oklahoma after an announcement today from the U.S. Supreme Court. Geoff Brewster, Phillips Stewardship Director and newest Board member of Oklahomans for Equality, said today’s news is cause for celebration.

“We are witnessing history in the making today in the great state of Oklahoma. Justice has been granted. Love has won,” Brewster said. “Marriage equality is a reality in the heart of the Bible Belt. Today we get to bear witness to the work of the prophets who have gone before us, with the reminder that the work of the bringing kin-dom to earth is yet to be completed. Let’s celebrate today, and continue the work to which we've been called.”

Dr. Kathy McCallie, Director of the Doctor of Ministry program, shared her thoughts on today’s victory during an interview with The Oklahoman. Click the link below to see a video about her interview.
