Phillips Board Member to Lead National Convocation

Phillips Theological Seminary board member Rev. Jesse Jackson, Jr. will begin his term as the President of the National Convocation of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) at the close of the 23rd Biennial Session on Sunday, July 27, in Columbus, Ohio.

Jackson is the pastor of East Sixth St. Christian Church in Oklahoma City and was nominated as the convocation’s incoming president during the 22nd Biennial Session in July 2012. In addition to leading his congregation and serving on the Phillips Board of Trustees, he has spent the last two years serving as the convocation’s Vice President and planning the program content of this year’s event.

According to its website, the National Convocation serves "as a forum for the discussion of pertinent issues related to black church life in the context of total church life." Information about the National Convocation, including registration for the 2014 Biennial Session, can be found at nationalconvocation.org

Phillips offers Christian graduate theological education in service of intelligent, just, and
compassionate religious and civic communities. We welcome students to a safe space for truth-seeking conversations about the Bible, Jesus, and faithful living. Courses are available on campus and online for certificate, diploma, MDiv, MAMC, and MTS programs, and on campus for the DMin program.
