"There is joy in the presence of the angels of God,' otherwise known as heavenly party time, according to this reflection on Luke 15 by Jim Wilson.
PARTY TIME
The 16th Sunday of Pentecost C, Sept. 12, 2010 (green)
Jeremiah 4:11-12, 22-28, Psalm 14:1-7, I Timothy 1:12-17, Luke 15:1-10
“‘Just so, I tell you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.’"
Luke 15:10 (NRSV)
The angels are having a party,
the lost coin, found,
the lost sheep back in the fold,
the lost son returning home (Vs11ff)
The angels are calling,
mother, father, preacher, teacher, friend, scripture, etc.
pointing humanity toward truth,
attending the party our hope indeed
99 sheep left unattended to find that one wayward one, one coin lost, burning the lamp, diligently sweeping, and there it lay shining in the light, and that prodigal, belly filled with hog slop, came on home, the angels partied all night. Jim Wilson
