PTS Library Collections
The library collections at Phillips Theological Seminary comprise holdings of approximately 90,000 items, making it the largest graduate theological library in the region extending from Dallas to Kansas City and St. Louis to Denver. It serves as an important resource for theological students, religious professionals and researchers in the area. The collection reflects the ecumenical and non-sectarian mission of the seminary.
The library provides access to 80,000 monographs, 750 hard-copy journals, a growing collection of DVDs and CDs, and 3,500 titles in a variety of microtext formats. Our electronic journal resources provide access to an additional 20,000 journal and newspaper citations and full-text articles. Examples of these databases include the ATLA Religion Database™ with ATLASerials™ and Academic Search™ Premier.
The circulating collection is housed primarily in the Main Library Stacks. Circulating materials that are less frequently used are shelved in the compact storage area. Most of the Reference, Course Reserves and selected preaching materials are kept in the Reading Room to facilitate access and ease of use. Current print copies of several journal issues and magazines are displayed in an area of comfortable seating.
The library is pleased to have several special collections: The Beasley Rare Book Room, the Curriculum Resources Collection, Discipliana Collection, and The Merrick Hymnody Collection.
