New Faculty Member to Preach at PTS

New Faculty Member Slated to Preach at PTS

Dr. Richard Ward, the new Associate Professor for Homiletics and Worship at Phillips Theological Seminary (PTS), will be preaching in the Doctor of Ministry chapel services beginning June 22. He will be using the lectionary texts of Sunday, June 27, and Sunday July 4, to form the bases of his sermons, using one text each morning. 

 

Ward will be preaching every morning in these services from Tuesday, June 22 through Thursday, July 1. Open to the public, chapel is scheduled from 9:00 to 9:30 a.m. All services will be held in Meinders Chapel at PTS, 901 North Mingo Road in Tulsa.

 

Dr. Ward is the coordinator for the Homiletics specialization of the Doctor of Ministry in Pastoral Leadership program. Prior to coming to Phillips, Dr. Ward served on the faculty of Yale Divinity School in the Clement-Muehl chair in Communication Arts and with Fred Craddock on the faculty of the Candler School of Theology at Emory University.

 

He is the author of Speaking from the Heart: Preaching with Passion and Speaking of the Holy: The Art of Communication in Preaching. With Fred Craddock and Mike Graves, he co-edited Craddock Stories.  Dr. Ward also serves on the editorial board for Feasting on the Word. 

 

Eliot Glaser, a well-known musician in the Tulsa area, will provide the music while Sheri Curry, director of Seminary Worship and Chapel at PTS, will server as the worship leader.
