Leadership for a New Awakening
Message from Phillips’s Board of Trustees Chair, Lynn Moore
I have had the good fortune of serving on the Board of Trustees of Phillips Theological Seminary for over 20 years, including as the chair. My experience with Phillips has been one of those life-shaping experiences which helps define who I am and what I hold dear.
I am greatly inspired by the thoughts of the deep-thinking religious scholar, Diana Butler Bass, who, in her book, Christianity After Religion, wrote she believes we are at the beginning of a new religious awakening.
What will make a difference to the future is awakening to a faith that fully communicates God’s love – a love that transforms how we believe, what we do, and who we are in the world.
I remain heavily involved with Phillips because I believe this seminary is at the forefront of the new awakening.
In May 2012, the Phillips Theological Seminary board adopted a new identity statement and a new mission statement.
The complete buy-in by the faculty, administration and staff to Phillips' potential to cultivate and lead in this new awakening is inspiring to me and is a major reason for my commitment to this institution.
I am totally committed personally to provide Phillips Theological Seminary with much of my time and treasure. I believe in it. I sincerely hope you can join me in supporting financially. You can make a gift online here.
Yours very truly,
Lynnwood R. Moore, Jr.
