Borrowing Policy

Materials are circulated to all library members, including local clergy, lay religious leaders, and students of other colleges, seminaries, and universities. Most of the PTS Library's collection is available for check-out. Reference items & some audio/visual materials are for in-library use only. Generally, materials may be checked out for a period of four (4) weeks. Items may be renewed as often as needed, unless another request has been made. Faculty & staff have an extended borrowing period.

Copyright/Copying

The library cautions all users to be mindful of copyright law (US Code, Title 17) when copying materials. The library owns specialized photocopying & scanning equipment for paper & microformats.

Computer/Printer Use

The desktop computers in the library are intended primarily for research. During periods of low traffic, users are welcome to use the computers for papers & personal correspondence. Student printing is free, supported by the Student Senate.

Cellular/Mobile Phone Use

Out of consideration for other library users, the use of cell/mobile phones within the library is discouraged.

Food & Beverages

Food & drinks are allowed in all areas of the library except the Beasley Rare Book Room, where food & drinks are prohibited. Recycling containers are available throughout the seminary.

Quiet Spots

Conversation is viewed as integral to the seminary community. Researchers requiring silence may use library conference rooms or may make arrangements with library staff. To use a conference room for an extended period, please coordinate with library staff to avoid conflicts.

Phillips offers Christian graduate theological education in service of intelligent, just, and
compassionate religious and civic communities. We welcome students to a safe space for truth-seeking conversations about the Bible, Jesus, and faithful living. Courses are available on campus and online for certificate, MDiv, MAMC, and MTS programs, and on campus for the DMin program.
