Back to Giving to Phillips

In order to ensure Phillips continues to be the seminary where faith leads well into the future, it is important to add funds to the endowment. Over 50 percent of the seminary’s budget is funded from the endowment.

There are many opportunities to give named gifts, such as:

  • faculty chairs
  • professorships
  • lectureships
  • library books
  • student scholarships
  • rooms,
  • gifts that could be named in honor of or as a tribute to someone

Undesignated gifts are also welcome.

A gift of any amount may be added to the endowment. Donors have given to the endowment from many sources, including but not limited to:

  • cash
  • the sale of stocks
  • bonds
  • life insurance
  • property
  • other investments

In January 2006, through the Bridges of Faith Campaign, all new gifts added to the endowment (not counting payments on pledges made before that date), are matched, dollar for dollar, from a trust established by Mr. Chester Cadieux, Phillips Board Chair emeritus, and his wife Debbie. This match continues as long as funds are available.

For more information on endowments, please contact Geoff Brewster, Senior Director of Stewardship.
