Former Phillips Trustee Retires from Ministry

Tribute to Rev. George Young, PTS Alum & Former Trustee

The Rev. Dr. George Young, Sr., is retiring after 30 years in ministry. He is a two-time graduate of PTS—MDiv and DMin. For most of his ministry, he has been the pastor of Holy Temple Baptist Church in Oklahoma City. George did a model job of connecting the congregation with the neighboring community, most visibly by spearheading a public-private partnership that resulted in building a senior living center adjacent to the church. The center provides seniors an option of staying in their community when they can no longer live in their larger home spaces, rather than needing to move across town. We at PTS celebrate George’s ministry at Holy Temple, his adjunct teaching and erstwhile board membership at PTS, and the capacity he continues to hold for great ministry.
