Main Duties at PTS

  • Test equipment for functionality immediately prior to classes or events, including ensuring that batteries are fresh and all required equipment is in the room.
  • Communicate with other educational technologists regarding changes in class technologies, procedures, equipment issues, best practices, etc.
  • Know the locations of, and have accessible, supporting hardware such as mics, headphones, and clickers.
  • Provide technical assistance and support to instructors/presenters, by appointment, during classes or events on campus and online.  Be available to experiment with faculty on new or untried technology.
  • Respond to requests for immediate technical assistance in situations where advance notice could not reasonably be arranged: for example, malfunctioning or missing equipment, or changing conditions (i.e. inclement weather) requiring impromptu technical workarounds.
  • Fix/correct or establish work around, or initiate equipment replacement when a system malfunctions before or during teaching/presentation.
  • Operate video cameras during synchronous online or hybrid instructor-led learning experiences.
